FUN BUFFALO FACTS

• Buffalo can run at a top speed of 35 mph. They can easily outrun a horse, so we use ATVs for our roundups.

Buffalo are wild animals and they will charge a human if threatened especially just after calving, when the mothers are protecting their calves. The females give birth to one calf once a year in the Spring. This is their natural cycle.

Buffalo eat less than cows, even though they can weigh more. A wild buffalo's digestive system has not been alterated by man, so they process nutrients very efficiently.

Buffalo don't need vitamin supplements, hay or grain when raised in a natural pasture environment. They move every three days to find fresh grass.

The buffalo's metabolism slows down considerably in the winter. When it snows, they use their large heads to move the snow to find grass.
